Might give someone an idea of what's wrong on my desktop. I'm going to add this because I struggled with another USB device a couple of weeks ago which I never got to work. Dozens of different combinations of restarting computer and plugging, unplugging the USB and power cables to the printer Tried different USB ports which work with mouse & keyboard Tested the USB cable in another printer, works fine Not installing anything (all previous lexmark installs deleted before) and just plugging in the printer and let Windows download everything Installing software and drivers downloaded from Lexmark support Installing software and drivers from the CD that came with the printer The printer itself works fine aswell, when copying or printing the test page. Here's the weird thing though: I have actually managed to print a few documents at what seems to be random occasions. Sometimes the firmware installer doesn't even find the printer although it shows up as ready to use in device manager.

This also happens when I try to update the firmware. I get the error "Communication not available, the printer cannot communicate with the computer". If I try to cancel it, it changes status to cancelling, but doesn't go away. When I try to print something (Tried Paint, Wordpad, Mozilla, Notepad.) the document shows up in the printing monitoring window, but nothing happens, it just gets stuck there. The software and driver installation seems to go as it should, and windows says the printer is ready to use.
Note that it works fine when connected with USB in my Laptop, which uses Vista 32bit. I have e-mailed Lexmark support but honestly don't expect that much from it. Hopefully someone here could shed some light on this problem that have been messing with my mind since yesterday when I bought this printer.
